The biggest challenge many British manufacturers are still facing is a shortage of skilled workers. While advancements in Industry 4.0 technologies have brought a surge of innovation to the sector, ultimately, it’s having people with the right skills that is key to driving the industry forwards.
 
There are many reasons as to what's behind the skills gap, including experienced workers retiring faster than new workers entering the industry and manufacturing still appearing to be low on the list of career options for young people due to an outdated perception of the industry being monotonous and low-paid. Not to mention male-dominated.
 
We are working with Napier PR to conduct a survey into this important topic to find out where we are now and how the pandemic may have affected the situation even further.
