05 Jun 2024
Institute for Manufacturing Theatre
INSTITUTE FOR MANUFACTURING THEATRE

**Separate booking required**

Automation projects are costly, complex and resource-intensive, and getting them wrong can leave a business with hard to manage legacy challenges.

In this session we will introduce a practical and proven approach to automation decision making and show how this informs good equipment sourcing choices.

You will learn about the IfM’s tried and tested automation assessment tool and hear IfM Industrial Associate, Liz Salter’s, first-hand experience of working with a range of global companies using this approach. The tool has been applied in many sectors including aerospace, FMCG, automotive, and consumer electronics.

The approach explores the potential downsides of automation alongside the more frequently presented benefits, as well as considering the implementation challenges that a specific solution needs to overcome in order to ensure business expectations are met.

This interactive workshop is free to attend but places are limited to 25 due to the format of the sessions.

Each IfM Masterclass is organised by IfM Engage at the IfM, University of Cambridge, and is free to attend as part of the Smart Factory Expo at Smart Manufacturing and Engineering Week. The IfM’s mission is to manufacture a better world through the impact of our research, education and practice activities in the manufacturing community. To support this objective, we are only accepting bookings from manufacturing and technology organisations for the Masterclasses - we will not be accepting bookings from consultants.
